When the Roll is Called
The Lord is calling all nations (people groups) into his Kingdom.
Dr. Arthurs is a professor of preaching and communication at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
Raised in western Pennsylvania in a nominally Christian home,
he came to faith in Christ when he was fourteen years old. His
life was turned upside down as he soon became deeply involved
in the life of the church, receiving a call to preach at age sixteen.
To this day his passion is preaching and he uses his wide ranging
communication experience as a teacher, pastor, missionary, director, announcer and consultant to equip others for more effective proclamation of the Word. His books reflect his love of preaching and communication: Preaching with Variety, Devote Yourself to Public Reading of Scripture, and Preaching As Reminding. Dr. Arthurs is an elder in his church, North Shore Community Baptist, and is on the teaching team there. He has been married for more than thirty-five years and enjoys playing tennis and disc golf with his wife, Liz. They are the parents of one son who is in the Navy.
