Tuesday Women's Bible Studies Begin September 11th
TUESDAY MORNING women will study The Word of the Lord: Seeing Jesus in the Prophets.
Gain a fresh perspective on the message of the Old Testament prophets, a broader understanding of Jesus as the fulfillment of Scripture, and much more when you join author, Nancy Guthrie on this incredible journey to see Jesus in the Old Testament!
In the Old Testament, God spoke to his people through prophets - men specially called to speak God's Word to his people. The New Testament makes it clear that such prophets, whether chastising or comforting, testified to Israel's final redemption and ultimate hope: Jesus the Messiah.
Over 12 weeks of personal Bible study, DVD teaching, and group discussion, Bible teacher Nancy Guthrie will help you see the person and work of Christ in:
- Hosea's willingness to redeem his unfaithful bride from slavery
- Isaiah's divine King and suffering Servant, who will be punished for his people
- Daniel's stone, not hewn by human hands, that will crush every human kingdom
- Ezekiel's vision of a city where we will enjoy Jesus' presence forever
The Morning Bible study meets on Tuesdays from September 11th to December 4th from 9:15 to 11:30am We begin in the Lecture Hall with a DVD lecture by Nancy Guthrie and then we divide into small discussion groups. A Children’s Program is offered for the morning study only.
The cost for the morning study guide is $12.
TUESDAY EVENING women will study the book of Malachi using Bob Stuart’s study.
Malachi, as a faithful prophet of God, spoke to a culture that seemed unconcerned about the things of God. Prophets had proclaimed truth but the Israelite society hardly reflected the impress of their words. The priests were corrupt (1:6 -2:9), the majority of the people were praetorian, libertine, and exploiting (2:10 – 4:3). Yet, in the midst of a corrupt society, God was reigning and demonstrated his “peculiar love” for an unworthy people.
When conflagration besets us, it is difficult to comprehend the love of God. The pressures and tensions caused by hard times can lead us to believe that God has forsaken us. Though appearances may look otherwise, God still loves his people, and this message is carried throughout the Book of Malachi. It is this persistent love that judges Israel, condemns her infidelity and sheds grace on the faithful remnant of Jacob.
The Evening Bible study meets on Tuesdays from September 11th to November 13th from 6:15 to 8:30pm in the Fellowship Hall where we discuss the study material from our study guide.
The cost for the evening study guide is $10.
