Winter/Spring 2018 Bible Study - Exodus & Ephesians
TUESDAY MORNING BIBLE STUDY - EXODUS
The book of Exodus recounts how God graciously delivered Israel from slavery in Egypt; traces their journey through the wilderness; and describes in detail the covenant God made with them at Mount Sinai. In telling this story, Exodus highlights the supreme faithfulness and mercy of God, and contrasts this with Israel’s repetitive grumbling, rebellion, and sin. In so doing, this book presents a condensed picture of the gospel. Simply put, Exodus shows us that God saves sinners.
Although God gives Israel the law and comes to dwell in their midst, ultimately Israel will not be faithful to their covenant with him. Only in Jesus do we find a faithful Israelite who keeps God’s law while simultaneously embodying God’s presence with his people.
Our study guide is from the Knowing the Bible series. The cost of the book is $10. Please complete the Overview in the book before the first class.
The morning study meets from 9:15 to 11:30 AM beginning January 16th through April 24th. A Children’s Program is offered for children Pre-K and younger for the morning study only.
TUESDAY EVENING BIBLE STUDY - EPHESIANS
In Paul’s letter to the Ephesians, he addressed topics such as - how can a person be made spiritually alive; what are the keys to genuine unity in the church; how can we overcome the power of sin; what does God expect of husbands and wives, parents and children, masters and servants?
Come see how Ephesians calls us all to a loving and faithful Christian walk in our relationships with others no less than in our private lives before the Lord.
The evening group is again using a study written by Bob Stuart. He has put together a concise commentary with thoughtful questions for reflection. Please complete the Overview in the book before the first class. The study guide cost is $10.
The evening group meets from 5:45 to 7:45 PM beginning January 16th.
