Unbreakable

Unbreakable! Unbreakable! the never-broken Word!
Every book of Scripture will evermore endure.
Jesus Christ has promised, “The Scripture cannot break!”
Will faithless scoffers never learn, who try the Faith to shake?
Written into every heart, and etched in books of stone,
Each holy Word, inspired and true, proceeds from heaven’s throne.
      Grasses, they may whither, flowers, they may fade,
       but lo the everlasting Word shall never pass away!

Unbreakable! Unbreakable! the ever-mighty Word!
Every curse and blessing will evermore endure.
Cutting joint from marrow, the Spirit wields His sword,
‘tis sharper than a razor’s edge, the living, active Word.
Casting light in darkened minds, and searching every heart,
the perfect and inerrant Word its wisdom thus imparts.
      Grasses, they may whither, flowers, they may fade,
       but lo the everlasting Word shall never pass away!

Unbreakable! Unbreakable! the never-empty Word!
Every line and precept will evermore endure.
Sent of God, effectual, accomplishing His will;
the Scripture therefore never fails its purpose to fulfill.
Teach, rebuke, correct and train, the Word renews the mind;
the fruitful and instructive Word exhorts in every line.
      Grasses, they may whither, flowers, they may fade,
       but lo the everlasting Word shall never pass away!

Unbreakable! Unbreakable! the ever-active Word!
Every proclamation will evermore endure.
Man shall live by each Word proceeding from the Lord;
and faith shall come through hearing ears, through preaching of the Word.
Spirit-breathed, infallible, the truth on every page,
the gracious and redeeming Word will profit fool and sage.
      Grasses, they may whither, flowers, they may fade,
       but lo the everlasting Word shall never pass away!

Unbreakable! Unbreakable! the never-failing Word!
Every Gospel promise will evermore endure.
God in flesh appearing, is Christ th’incarnate Word,
the Logos of His Father’s love, our Tabernacle sure.
God’s redemption is revealed, the Word secures the way,
for Jesus Christ, the living Word, believing sinners saves!
      Grasses, they may whither, flowers, they may fade,
       but lo the everlasting Word shall never pass away!

Unbreakable! Unbreakable! the ever-living Word!
Every jot and tittle will evermore endure.
Says the reigning Jesus, Though mountains rise and wane
though kingdoms fall and men like chaff the ages blow away,
never shall the Word I speak from mem’ry pass away.
My always and forever Word will last through endless days!
      Grasses, they may whither, flowers, they may fade,
       but lo the everlasting Word shall never pass away!
